BEALIBA TAKE OUT STATE TITLE IN MUSICAL RIDE
On Sunday 17th May the Midland Zone of Pony Club held their Qualifying Event for Team Rides and Games to determine which clubs would represent the Zone at the State Championships to be held at Werribee Park Equestrian Centre over the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June 2009.
All clubs throughout the Zone were invited to participate with the Zone being able to send two Flat teams, two Games teams and two Musical Ride teams.
Bealiba Pony Club sent two Flat Teams, Two Musical Ride Teams and four Games Teams to compete and at the end of the competition the six teams to represent the Midland Zone at the State Championships all came from the Bealiba & District Pony Club.
Last weekend twenty-two Bealiba pony club members along with their parents and support crew travelled to Werribee Park to compete against other clubs that had also won their way to the State Championships, a gathering of some of the best teams in the State.
On Saturday Bealiba had two teams compete in the Team of Four Ride which consists of a team ride, a pair ride and an unrehearsed ride. Each ride is ridden under a different judge and at the end of the competition all scores are added together to determine the placings. Bealiba’s team of Demcy Gibbs riding Jet, Maddy Harris riding Lady Di, Tarah Youngson riding Red Centre and Kate Hannigan riding Skywood Southern Comfort, took out third place.
Our teams then took part in the Musical Ride. The ride is ridden to music with the riders dressing in costume. Two judges mark the ride on artistic value, quality of movements, teamwork, costumes and suitability of music. When the final scores were tallied the team of Demcy, Maddy, Tarah and Kate took out first place with our team consisting of Samantha Palmer riding Scrumpy Jack, Toni Weir riding Danzelli Gold, Guinevere Jones riding Leave it to Beaver and Hannah Gould riding Boldmaarad taking out third place.
This was an amazing effort by both teams that had chosen completely different rides. The winning team was presented with sashes, medallions and woollen rugs embroidered with PCAV Musical Ride State Champion 2009.
On Sunday 25 games teams took part in the 6 games to determine the pacing’s. Some teams had riders that had been chosen to represent Victoria at the Nationals to be held in Sydney in July. At the end of the competition Bealiba’s Team A took out third place, Trafalgar finished first on a total of 280 points, Macedon A second with 260 points and Bealiba third on 250 points.
Team A consisted of Kellie Barnett riding Rambo, Harley McGrath riding Snow Plough, Kylie Scilini riding Bundy, Anna Parry riding Sally, Abby-Rose Fry riding Mikey, Katelyn Billinghurst riding Pooh Bear and Molly Gould riding Zara.
Our second games team also demonstrated some great skills, they finished in thirteenth place. The riders were Katrina Scilini riding Duke, Tamrie Carter riding Mindy, Ebony Cohalan riding Shuffles, Alicia Billinghurst riding Apache, Paigan Gould riding Babe, Corey Youngson riding Pheobe and Cade Cohalan riding Barry.
At the end of the competition when final presentations were being made, the State Executive of PCAV commented on Bealiba’s success, not only over the weekend but as a club. All members are encouraged to participate in club activities and are given the opportunity and support to compete at a State level
